Eradicating Heart Disease

Copyright 1993, Health Now ISBN 0963876805

by Matthias Rath

This excellent book outlines the theory that atherosclerosis is a healing process set in motion by chronic Vitamin C deficiency.  Get this if you can.  A detailed article covering this work is available on the web at

Heart Attack Prevention - Linus Pauling on Reversing Heart Disease without Surgery

America's Most Successful Cardiovascular Health Program

Copyright 1995, Health Now ISBN 0963876821

by Matthias Rath

This consumer oriented version of Eradicating Heart Disease by Rath discusses his theory more briefly and includes many testimonials.

Supernutrition for Healthy Hearts

Copyright 1977, The Dial Press  ISBN  0-8037-8035-4

By Richard Passwater, Ph.D.

While a little outdated, Passwater makes the case for nutrition from a researchers point-of-view.  He also explains the problems with the still-popular cholesterol theory.  An excellent choice for anyone interested in  understanding the nutritional basis of heart disease.

Heart Failure

Copyright 1989, Simon & Schuster ISBN 0671724444

by Thomas J. Moore

The health issues that stir the emotions like no others are heart disease cancer and AIDS.  They are also big business.  Much misinformation is spread by the medical community and the media.  Heart Failure will open your eyes to the problems faced by heart patients and will help you make more informed decisions.

The Cholesterol Myths: Exposing the Fallacy that Saturated Fat and Cholesterol Cause Heart Disease

Copyright 2000, NewTrends Publishing, Inc.

By Uffe Ravnskov, MD, PhD,

Dr. Ravnskov blows away the myth of what he calls the "diet-heart idea". He exhaustively details the studies and data behind them to show that CHD (coronary heart disease) is not caused by high cholesterol and diet. Some may find the details tedious, but the message is very important, that the medical establishment has latched on to the cholesterol-diet-heart disease theory like a bulldog and won't let go no matter what the truth is.

!Heart Attack Prevention - Linus Pauling on Reversing Heart Disease without Surgery

Pauling was THE MAN concerning vitamin C and alerting the general public to its crucial importance to health.  This site discusses his later work with Dr. Rath concerning heart disease.

Linus Pauling lectures on Vitamin C and Heart Disease

A short synopsis of a Pauling lecture concerning our need to supplement.  A good overview.

Nutrition, Health & Heart Disease; Cause & Prevention

A lot of good information concerning nutrition and how to get and keep a healthy heart.  Includes information on foods good for you and bad for you as well as recommendations concerning supplementation.

On the Heart Disease page, I discussed the role of Vitamin E in prevention of heart attacks.  The following books deal with Vitamin E in depth.

Vitamin E

Dr. Wilfrid E. Shute's Complete Updated Vitamin E Book

Copyright 1975, Keats Publishing ISBN 0879830883

by Dr. Wilfrid E. Shute

The Shutes are THE authority on vitamin E, having treated well over 30,000 patients.  This book and the one following provide an excellent review of the need for the vitamin E to prevent heart attack.

Vitamin E for Ailing and Healthy Hearts

Copyright 1969, Pyramid Publications ISBN 0-452-26419-7

by Dr. Wilfrid E. Shute with Harald J. Taub

Sufficient Vitamin E will prevent almost all heart attacks by preventing blood clots.  While this is out of print, if you can get it, do so.  It is an excellent account of the need for Vitamin E.

Chelation is a controversial therapy that, in theory, breaks down the plaque that lines the arteries of heart disease victims.  I have read about this in depth and my father-in-law has had this therapy.  Even so, I can't tell you how effective it is.  Here is a listing of several of the books I have read.  This therapy interests me greatly due to its promise, safety and lack of side-effects.

Chelation Therapy

The Miracle Healing Powers of Chelation Therapy

Copyright 1984, Fischer Publishing ISBN 0-915421-00-3

by Dr. Morton Walker

This is one of several of Walker's books on Chelation.  It is thorough and makes a compelling case for this treatment.  I also recommend another of his books on the subject listed next.

The Chelation Way

Copyright 1990, Avery Publishing Group  ISBN 0-89529-415-X

by Dr. Morton Walker

In this book, Walker also discusses oral chelating methods.  I doubt that orally administered agents will be much help, but like Vitamin C, if its safe, it may be worth trying.

Bypassing Bypass Surgery: Chelation Therapy: A Non-Surgical Treatment for Reversing Arteriosclerosis, Improving Blocked Circulation, and Slowing the Aging Process

Copyright 2001, Hampton Roads Publishing ISBN 1571742972

by Elmer Cranton, M.D. and Arline Brecher

Explains chelation therapy well and its effects on circulation.  Very well written and easy to read.

A Textbook on EDTA Chelation Therapy

Copyright 1989, Human Sciences Press, Inc. ISBN 0-89885-480-6

Edited by Elmer Cranton, M.D.

This is an outstanding compilation of research and clinical trials regarding chelation therapy.  Anyone reading this can't come away without thinking this safe therapy is worth much more attention that it is now given.
